Don’t Forget Your Neck 4-4-22 Tip of the Day
Updated: Apr 5
Taking care of of skin is something lots of us learn to do over time. If you’re in your 30’s and over, now is the time to pay closer attention to protecting your neck and décolletage (chest area).
Remember to apply proper skincare to your face, neck, and chest!
The skin on your neck can be thinner and more sensitive than the skin on your face, making it more prone to showing signs of aging and sun damage.
Think sun protection and hydration.
Suncreen and a hydrating moisturizer with hyaluronic acid are good products to use on your neck and décolletage for preventative care. Use sunscreen everyday. Apply hyaluronic acid moisturizer to your neck and chest twice a day (morning and night) to keep those areas hydrated. Lack of moisture speeds up the aging appearance.
If you’re already seeing signs of aging on your neck area, don’t stress out. Dermatologists say topical antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E and ferulic acid can be applied to improve the appearance of your neck and chest area. More specifically, products with stem cells and peptides tend to be beneficial for the neck.
If you are noticing wrinkles and saggy skin on your neck and chest, there are treatments like skin boosters and retinoids that can be helpful. Ask your dermatologist which treatment is best for you if it’s something that concerns you.
Dermatologists say it’s common to start noticing the appearance of neck aging in our 40’s, however, it’s never too late to start caring for the neck and décolletage.
