How often should you book a facial? Tip of the day 5-7-22
On average, our skin cells turn over every 28 days. This is why many dermatologists and estheticians recommend showing your skin some professional love every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain a glowing complexion. They also say there are some exceptions.

1-2 months is a general recommendation, but your dermatologist can give you a more personalized timeframe based on your skin type. For example, someone with acne may be asked to make appointments every one-to-two weeks to do professional chemical peels and focus on extractions. In an interview with PopSugar, Dermatologist Corey Hartman says, ”Generally, those with oily and acne-prone skin can tolerate facials with more frequency than those with sensitive or dry skin. Those people may opt for a facial less frequently, like every eight weeks, to decrease the likelihood of inflammation“.
The benefits of regular facials include deep cleansing, fading of dark spots, hydration, unclogged pores, and skin rejuvenation.
If you’re concerned about the financial aspect of getting regular facials, consider spacing them out quarterly. Dr. Hartman says, " The long-term effects of performing [facials] on a regular basis provides more impact than doing something one time and never repeating it."
Unless directed by a dermatologist, experts say getting a facial sooner than 4-weeks apart might disrupt your skin barrier.
