Protecting Feet on Summer Vacation: Tip of the Day 6-21-22

When the sun is out, it’s likely toes are out too! I’m currently in Venice and brought plenty on sandals to wear during my stay. If you also wear more sandals 🩴 (or go barefoot 🏖) while on vacation, remember to protect the top and bottom of your feet from the sun.

Dermatologists say protecting your feet from the sun is critical year-round, but especially during the summer when we tend to bare our feet more. Even on cloudy days, UV rays can penetrate the skin.

Applying sunscreen to both sides of the feet, including the soles, 15 minutes before going outside helps protect against the burning and aging effects of the sun. Dermatologists suggest using a broad spectrum sunscreen with a minimum SPF (sun protection factor) of 30. Remember to reapply every 2 hours.
