Protecting hands from appearance of aging Tip of the Day 4-11-22
If you’re in your 30’s and up, sunscreen is one of the most important topicals to help skin maintain its youthful appearance. Remember, hands need just as much protection as your face and neck, even when in your car.
Dermatologists say reapplying sunscreen frequently throughout the day is a good way to protect your hands. Also, they say keep your hands hydrated with creams and lotions. Look for a moisturizer with ingredients like hyaluronic acid that help bind water into the skin to hydrate it. And get a good multi-vitamin!
If your hands have already started to look aged, experts suggest improving age spots with over-the-counter or prescription topical creams containing retinol or retinoid acid. Ask your dermatologist about treatments if you are not pleased with the results from using spot treatment creams. He or she may suggest a chemical peel or laser procedure, or fat injection. Just know that aging hands are treatable.
